A Super Textile
The history of the ‘Jersey Wool Heavy’ goes way back before the Second World War
and can be seen worn by the legendary Scott and Shackleton and his crews during those hard early years of
Antarctic exploration.
The early scientific research into the properties of wool proved it to be the best option
to help (as much as possible) to keep these brave souls relatively warm in the harshest environment on the
planet.
Trusted by many
The ‘Jersey Wool Heavy’ would continue to be used by early pioneers of Himalayan mountaineering in the 1930’s and then used extensively during the Second World War and right up to the 80’s and 90’s as a military garment.
Fishermen, Ghillies, Stalkers, Soldiers, etc, have all benefitted from this style of jumper – a timeless classic still performing as it always did.
Designed to endure the ever-changing seasons, our knitwear is perfect for countless journeys and adventures. Pair with a Smock for year-round weather protection.

Operation Jedburgh
Operation Jedburgh was a clandestine operation during World War II in which three-man teams of operatives
of the British Special Operations Executive (SOE), the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the Free French
Bureau central de renseignements et d'action ("Central Bureau of Intelligence and Operations") and the Dutch
and Belgian armies in exile were dropped by parachute into occupied France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
The objective of the Jedburgh teams was to assist allied forces who invaded France on 6 June 1944 with
sabotage and guerrilla warfare, and leading local resistance forces in actions against the Germans.
The name of the operation was chosen at random from a Ministry of Defence code book, although several of
those who took part in the operation later reflected that the name was apt as the town of Jedburgh in the
Scottish Borders was notorious in the late Middle Ages for the activities of the raiders known as the Border
Reivers. The Jedburgh Jumper is further apt given the airborne nature of the Jedburgh Teams ‘Jumping in’ to
their target areas.
