Exceptional fortitude
Originally designed for submariners in the British Royal Navy, this high-quality wool sweater features a distinctive roll neck design for protection against cold drafts and harsh weather at sea.
Its practicality was later recognized by the RAF, who utilised it in their aircraft cockpits during challenging bombing missions. With its classic style and versatility, the Submariner jumper has evolved from its naval origins to become a beloved fashion staple.

Through time-honed techniques and an understanding of the exceptional qualities of wool, we create timeless jumpers that exude familiarity, comfort, and lasting warmth. Designed to endure the ever-changing seasons, our knitwear is perfect for countless journeys and adventures, provided it receives the care it deserves. For additional insulation on cold days and nights in the field, we recommend pairing our jumper with a Rough Bounds cotton windproof smock.

SUBMARINER ORIGINS
Unchanged for 80 years
Our pullover is labelled after the most famous of Royal Navy battles.
The name has proudly been carried by five Royal Naval vessels since the historic battle including the recently decommissioned Submarine.
A true classic, built for purpose, the Submariner jumper has been around since 1941 and the design left unchanged.
It was created to protect sailors from harsh conditions, icy winds, rain and sea spray whilst at sea and the new breed of underwater sailors soon favoured this new sweater whilst patrolling the North Sea.
